Summary of Results
The Metrowest Region
conducted a Web Based Continuing Education Survey from October 15,
2003-October 31, 2003. All member library staff were invited to
participate in the survey. The survey was advertised on the
Metrowest Electronic Mailing List, Minuteman Library Network mailing
lists, and in a flyer sent to all members.
- 123 responses were received with 8 or 7%
from Academics, 66 or 54% from Publics, 38 or 31% from Schools, and 10
or 8% from Special Libraries.
- In terms of overall satisfaction with the
Metrowest CE program, on a scale where 10.0 was the highest score, 79%
indicated a score of 7.0 or higher and 80% indicated that the CE program
Exactly Met Expectations or higher.
- For those who were not satisfied, location
and time of workshops where the top reasons indicated.
- When asked to rank topics which might
be of interest, New Technology, Reader's Advisory, Reference Skills,
Subject Specialties, and Database Searching all received scores of
7.0 or higher. Other topics of interest listed were Big 6,
Communicating across language barriers, Advocacy, Electronic
Reserves, Book Clubs, New Books, and Photoshop.
- In response to the question as to the
best time for workshops, 20% indicated 8-10 AM, 80% 9:30-11:30 AM,
37% 1:30-3:30 PM, 26% 2:30-4:30 PM, and 15% 4-6 PM. The
9:30-11:30 AM time slot had the highest number of responses by all
types of libraries.
