World Book Online Reference Center

Metrowest provides unlimited access to this online encyclopedia to member academic, school and public libraries. World Book Online contains articles, web links, periodical articles related to subjects within World Book, pictures, maps, videos, animations, and sounds.

The Spanish Student Discovery Encyclopedia is now included in the World Book Online Reference Center.

World Book Online Research Libraries for U.S. History and Political Science are also included.

Users access World Book Online either through IP address or by username and password.

 For remote access, users may connect to the database from the Metrowest home page, www.mmrls.org.  Click on Home Access to Online Databases and when prompted by World Book, type in a valid Massachusetts public library barcode number.

Newsbank

Metrowest provides access to this newspaper database to all members. Newsbank provides full text access to the Boston Globe, Boston Herald, and the Worcester Telegram and Gazette.

Users access Newsbank either through IP address or username and password. Remote access is also available.

InfoTrac Web

Through a cooperative effort between the six Regional Library Systems and the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, all member libraries have access to InfoTrac Web. The following seven InfoTrac databases are available:

Users access InfoTrac either through IP address or by password. Remote access is available. For remote access, users may connect to the database from the Metrowest home page, www.mmrls.org. Proquest New York Times Historical Newspapers

Metrowest provides access to this database for all public libraries with in library use and home access.

The New York Times (1851-2001) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue.

OCLC FirstSearch

Metrowest provides access to the WorldCat for all member libraries.

Users access FirstSearch through IP address recognition or by authorization number and password.  There is no remote access.

netLibrary

This product is being provided by the Boston Public Library as part of their Statewide Reference and Referral Center Service and is funded by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.   Once a user account has been created, netLibrary is available for home access.

Includes:

• Library collection of 3,000 electronic books

• Public collection of 3,500 eBook titles in the public domain
