Artist Judy Chicago asks if women’s depictions of women differ from those by men.  The works included - from the prehistoric Venus of Willendorf to paintings of the 20th century - reveal the differences between the ways men and women portray women in art.  Although the language and nudity make this a book best suited for mature and serious students of the arts, this is an excellent resource for young women interested in pursuing a career in art.

It discusses mediums, technical terms, collecting art, taking care of art, and provides an historical overview beginning in the 1600s-1980s. While it doesn't provide much detail about the artists, the illustrations are magnificent.
