Cross State Delivery
Cross state delivery facilitates resource sharing for all members of the Massachusetts Regional Library System. Library materials for the Boston, Metrowest, Northeast, Southeast, Central and Western Regions may be sent through cross state delivery. When sending items through cross state delivery please use the appropriate delivery routing slip indicating to which region the item is being sent. For example: items being sent from the Metrowest Region to the Boston Region should use the routing slip that indicates Boston as the region. There are also several sub-routes in the Central and Western Regions that require a special routing slip indicating the region and the sub-route. A list of all libraries in the statewide regional library system that receive delivery can be found in the Massachusetts Delivery Routing Directory, http://www.bpl.org/brls/Delivery.htm This directory is a comprehensive list containing all relevant information needed to fill out the delivery slip including name of library, routing slip and sub-routes. The directory is updated periodically to track changes, additions, and corrections.
Delivery routing slips for Metrowest and cross state delivery may be downloaded in word format from the link Metrowest Routing Slips.
Minuteman Transit, the vendor who runs the Metrowest delivery routes, is also responsible for the cross state routes. The Boston Regional Library System works with Minuteman to oversee implementation of cross state delivery. Minuteman aims for a 24-48 hour turn around time for items sent through cross state delivery.
